The GGR in Macau fell by 90% from September of last year
In September, Macau's gross gaming revenue (GGR) amounted to MOP2.21 billion ($277 million), a drop of 90% year-on-year. The information was included in a report that was made public by the Gambling Inspection and Coordination Bureau.
GGR for the first nine months of 2020 was close to MOP38.61 billion ($4.84 billion), representing an 83% year-on-year reduction in comparison to MOP220.30 billion ($27.60 billion) for the same period in 2019.
Although the restart of the Individual Visit Program with China, Macau's gross gaming revenue (GGR) for September was disappointingly low. On the 12th of August, those living in Zhuhai, which is the region that is geographically closest to Macau, have been able to submit an application for IVS. On the 26th of August, applications from people living in Guangdong province were accepted. According to brokerage firm Sanford C. Bernstein Ltd, the restarted IVS program is expected to bring in more than 10,000 visits per day. This represents a significant increase from the about 5,000 daily visitors in August.
