NBA and Second Spectrum have announced a multi-year cooperation
Second Spectrum, which is a firm owned by Genius Sports, has agreed to collaborate with the National Basketball Association (NBA) on the development of a new technological platform. Second Spectrum has been designated as both an Official NBA League Pass Augmentation Supplier and an Official NBA Team Basketball Analytics Provider as a result of the relationship.
The Dragon project, which will be a technological platform for the future generation, will be a collaborative effort between the two corporations.
It will employ video technology to synthesis millions of on-court basketball points and will use machine-learned video indexing software to analyze this data once it has been collected.
Once the data has been analyzed, it may be utilized to produce augmented visuals that contain statistical team and player insights. These augmented graphics will then be presented on telecasts for NBA League Pass.
Over the course of the game, viewers of this stream will have the opportunity to watch an additional webcast that will place a significant emphasis on statistical analysis. The information will be provided in real time, and there will be no break in the live broadcast of the action.
The Chief Executive Officer of Genius Sports, Mark Locke, had this to say about the partnership: "As one of the most technologically sophisticated leagues in world sport, NBA teams, fans, broadcasters, and media partners want cutting-edge innovations."
"It is with great excitement that we announce the expansion of our long-term cooperation with the NBA. We are ecstatic that the NBA believes, as we do, that Dragon is the solution to all of the technological problems facing the world in the future.
Also, Second Spectrum will obtain official NBA monitoring data, which will then be included into the basketball insights and analytics engine maintained by Genius Sports.
Genius Sports will continue to supply its services to the other 30 NBA clubs, all of whom make use of the data analysis that is given by Second Spectrum for the purposes of gaining basketball insights and making decisions.
