The Dutch government starts processing applications
The Netherlands regulatory framework for gambling Kansspelautoriteit (KSA) has begun accepting applications for the Dutch gambling industry, which is scheduled to launch on October 1. The application gateway for online submissions to the government agency was inaccessible all of last week due to technical issues. Nonetheless, a solution was found and implemented on the same day, and the website went live on April 1 as scheduled.
The day was particularly significant since it was the day that the Remote Gambling Act (KOA) went into effect. Because to the fact that this act made it possible for people in the Netherlands to gamble online, it was necessary for the website to be operational.
Eager businesses can submit applications to the regulator using the digital portal provided by the KSA. These applications will then be assessed by the regulator.
The procedure requires the submission of an application that satisfies the requirements set out by the authorities. This means that the file in question must be intelligible, that it must include attachments on policy, and that a charge of €48,000 (£40,672) must be paid.
Each applicant is required to provide an in-depth explanation of the gaming system they intend to use, in addition to evaluation reports detailing the individual components of their gaming systems.
In addition, the KSA is certain that applications must be sent in before the 15th of April in order to allow it enough time to conduct reviews and distribute licenses in a timely manner well in advance of the opening of the Dutch market.
Applicants who do so within the allotted time and who are found to be in compliance with all requirements will subsequently be required to satisfy the evaluation criteria established by the KSA. In the event that this need is satisfied, a license may be issued at the same time.
The KSA asserts that by dispensing licenses ahead of schedule, it provides all operators with a level playing field in preparation for the launch in October.
